God arranges things in a phenomenal way and orchestrates life intersections of which only He is capable!
Today
was one of those days. I cannot divulge the names of the participants
because I only know 2 of them, but would want to protect their privacy
anyway.
Today is Sanctity of Life Sunday. If you have read my story, you know
that day is a bitter sweet day for me. Pastor gave a great sermon and
although he spoke about the evil of abortion, he also spoke of the
freedom from condemnation and the cleansing forgiveness that Christ
offers to:those who have done the deed (doctors), those who have
demanded that it be done (Parents, grandparents, boyfriend, husband),
and the ladies who have had the abortion, but have trusted Him as Savior
and Lord.
Usually I sit in the middle of our huge worship center with a group
of Liberty students. Today, I sat in the second row right up front. At
the end of the service a young lady (I'll call her Sandy) came and
collapsed on the altar. God nudged me go and pray with her. This is
not the norm, folks. I had no idea what she had gone forward, but as I
prayed for her, I sensed she had had an abortion as well. I asked that
God would show her forgiveness and she would know that He refuses to
remember our sins anymore. I also thanked him that the babies that have
been aborted were in Heaven with Him and would never suffer the hurts
of this world. As I prayed, she sobbed uncontrollably. I finished my
prayer and realized there was a second woman (I'll call her Hannah) who
had come to pray for her as well.
Sandy told me that she had just come out of rehabilitation where she
had trusted Christ as Savior and Lord, and yes, at age 15, her mom had
forced he to have an abortion. I told her she was going to have to
forgive her mom. She said she could not. I explained that just as she
had been forgiven, Christ demands that we forgive others. I warned her
not to let the root of bitterness grow anymore. She agreed to forgive
her. She said she wanted to join our church. I took her to Pastor and
explained the situation and he connected her with one of the other
pastors.
As Hannah and I sat there beside her, Hannah asked me if I knew Sandy.
I told her that at that point I did not even know her name, but God had
prodded me to go pray with her. Hannah said that she had been sitting
behind Sandy and had felt the same nudge.
While standing with Sandy at the front of the church while folks came
to welcome her, a young teen (I'll call her Ashley) came running up and
threw her arms around Sandy's neck and they both started crying. Ashley
said, "I have missed you so much!". After they stopped crying, Sandy
introduced Ashley to me as her step daughter! She said that she and her
husband (Ashley's father) had been separated for three months. At the
next moment, Hannah came to our little group and told us she is Ashley's
foster mom who had been caring for her for the past three months!
Because the teens all sit together, she and Hannah had not been sitting
together behind Sandy so Hannah did not know the connection.
WOW! Lord, YOU are an amazing God! You orchestrated a lot of lives to
be in the same place at the same time, to hear (and give) the same
message, and to touch the same hearts for YOUR glory! As Sandy heals
and grows, I pray that Hannah and I can minister to her and to Ashley. I
pray that as a church, we can help to restore their marriage and You,
Lord, can restore what has been stolen by the Enemy.
